National Angelman Syndrome Foundation Walk-a-thon on Saturday, May 16. This year Angelman families and friends walked together in 24 cities to raise money and awareness for Angelman Syndrome. In 2008, the Washington area Angelman Syndrome Walk-a-thon raised $77,088 with 519 walkers. In 2008, nineteen cities walked together and we raised $1 million nationally for Angelman Syndrome. Last year, the National Angelman Syndrome Foundation funded $750,000 in scientific and medical research and $200,000 in research related to behavioral issues. Go to
www.angelman.org and click on research to see the encouraging results of our fundraising efforts. Michelle Sclater was the Registration Chair again this year and will probably be next year as well. Please let her know if you are interested in volunteering for registration or anything else.
